Skilled Visas in Australia

2013-2014 Migration intake offers over 128 550 places for prospective skilled migrants around the world to realize their dream life in Australia thorough the skill migration program. You can nominate an occupation from a list of over 230 occupations to be eligible for the program. You can also be sponsored by a state government which awards additional points for your total points.

The Australian skill migration scheme was dramatically changed with the introduction of new SKILL SELECT system.

General Skill Migration Program just in 5 easy steps.

  1. Preliminary assessment by a Registered Migration Agent
  2. Skill Assessment
  3. Lodgment of Expression of Interest
  4. Application for the state sponsorship (If required)
  5. Invitation and lodgment of your final application.

There are basic requirements you must meet to apply for this visa. You must:

  1. be invited to apply
  2. be younger than 50 years of age when you are invited to apply
  3. nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  4. have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation
  5. have at least competent English
  6. score at least 60 on the points test
  7. meet the health and character requirements.
  8. Skilled independent visa- Sub Class 189

This is the visa for you if you can nominate an occupation from Schedule 01 of the SOL and if you can score 60 points without a sponsorship from a relative or state government . This visa allows you to live and work in Australian indefinitely and eligible for the Australian citizenship once you meet the residency requirements. You can bring your dependent family members with you.

Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190) visa

You can apply under this category if you are nominated by a state government for the purpose of GSM scheme. Point’s requirement is 60 points. You can live and work in anywhere in Australia can bring your dependent family members with you. You are also eligible for the Australian citizenship once you meet the residency requirements.

Skilled - Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 489) visa

This is a provisional visa for period of four years leading to the Permanent residency visas. To be eligible for this visa you must be nominated by a state or territory government or by a relative living in a designated area. You are required to live and work in the designated area you were sponsored for a certain period before you apply for Permanent visas. Your dependent family members can join you.
